Terms of Service — NorthPaw Dog Training Inc.

Effective Date: 2026-09-23

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the dog training services, classes, sessions, materials, communications, websites, and related offerings provided by NorthPaw Dog Training Inc. ("NorthPaw Dog Training Inc.", "we", "us", or "our").

By booking, attending, purchasing, accessing, or otherwise using any service offered by NorthPaw Dog Training Inc., you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our services.

These Terms apply to all clients, dog owners, handlers, participants, attendees, and any other individuals who engage with our services, whether in person, at a client home, outdoors, in a group setting, or through online or written communications.

2. Scope of Services

NorthPaw Dog Training Inc. provides professional dog-training services, which may include, without limitation:

  • Puppy socialization and foundation training;
  • Basic obedience and manners;
  • Leash walking and loose-leash training;
  • Behavior modification for jumping, barking, and pulling;
  • Recall and off-leash reliability training;
  • Private in-home training sessions; and
  • Group obedience classes.

Training outcomes depend on many factors, including the dog’s age, temperament, breed, health, prior experiences, environment, consistency of practice, and the owner’s participation. We do not guarantee any specific training result, behavioral outcome, or performance level.

Our services are educational and training-focused. They are not veterinary services, emergency services, boarding services, or guarantees of behavior correction. If we identify concerns that may be medical, neurological, or otherwise beyond the scope of training, we may recommend consultation with a veterinarian, veterinary behaviorist, or other qualified professional.

3. User Obligations and Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and current information about yourself and your dog, including age, breed, vaccination status, medical history, behavioral history, bite history, and any known risks;
  • Disclose any aggression, fear, resource guarding, reactivity, bite incidents, injury history, or other behavioral issues before services begin and promptly if circumstances change;
  • Ensure that your dog is appropriately licensed, vaccinated, parasite-free, and fit to participate in training, unless otherwise agreed in writing and permitted by law;
  • Use collars, harnesses, leashes, crates, gates, and other equipment safely and as instructed;
  • Supervise your dog at all times before, during, and after sessions as directed by us;
  • Follow training instructions, practice between sessions, and maintain consistent handling methods;
  • Refrain from bringing a dog that is ill, injured, in heat, or otherwise unsuitable for participation unless approved by us in advance;
  • Comply with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws, regulations, leash bylaws, animal-control rules, and property rules;
  • Ensure that all persons attending a session are capable of safely following instructions and handling the dog;
  • Immediately disclose any change in ownership, custody, housing, or household composition that may affect training or safety.

You acknowledge that dogs are unpredictable animals and that training activities may involve physical movement, handling, and exposure to new environments or stimuli. You are responsible for ensuring that your dog does not pose an unreasonable risk to people, animals, property, or the public.

We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or end services if, in our opinion, participation would create a safety risk, legal concern, or training environment that is unsuitable or unsafe.

4. Payment Terms and Conditions

Fees, package pricing, class prices, travel charges, and any other applicable amounts will be communicated at the time of booking or as otherwise posted or agreed in writing. All fees are due in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise.

  • Payment may be required in advance to confirm a booking or reserve a spot in a class or session;
  • Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due immediately upon invoice or before the scheduled service date;
  • Failure to pay when due may result in cancellation, suspension of services, refusal to attend a session, or loss of any reserved spot;
  • You are responsible for any applicable taxes, including GST/QST or other taxes required by law, unless expressly included in the quoted price;
  • Any chargeback, reversal, or disputed payment initiated without first contacting us in good faith may be treated as a breach of these Terms.

If a payment plan, package, or promotional offer is made available, any special conditions associated with that offer will apply in addition to these Terms. Unless otherwise stated, packages are non-transferable and must be used within any stated expiry period.

5. Cancellation and Refund Policy

We understand that schedules change. To protect our staff time and service availability, the following cancellation terms apply unless a different policy is expressly provided in writing for a particular service:

  • Private sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full;
  • Group classes missed by the client are generally not refundable or transferable;
  • No-shows are not eligible for a refund or credit unless required by law or approved by us in writing;
  • If we cancel a session or class, we may at our discretion offer a reschedule, credit, or refund for the cancelled service portion only;
  • Refunds, if approved, will be issued using the original payment method where reasonably practicable.

Because training services involve time reserved specifically for you and your dog, completed sessions are non-refundable. Package purchases may be subject to partial-use calculations, administrative deductions, or expiry rules as communicated at the time of sale, subject always to applicable Canadian consumer protection laws and any mandatory rights that cannot be waived.

We may cancel or reschedule services due to weather, illness, safety concerns, facility issues, or other operational reasons. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to provide alternative arrangements.

6. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, NorthPaw Dog Training Inc., its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of use, loss of data, or business interruption, arising from or related to our services.

You acknowledge and accept that participation in dog training involves inherent risks, including but not limited to scratches, bites, falls, slips, property damage, dog-to-dog interactions, injuries arising from leash handling, and unexpected reactions by dogs or other animals. You participate at your own risk.

Subject to applicable law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the services or these Terms shall be limited to the amount paid by you to NorthPaw Dog Training Inc. for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any mandatory consumer rights that apply under Canadian law.

You are solely responsible for any injury, loss, or damage caused by your dog, except to the extent directly caused by our proven gross negligence or wilful misconduct and to the extent such liability cannot be disclaimed under law.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

By using our services, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in these Terms and in any applicable privacy notice we may provide. If you provide information about a third party, you represent that you have authority to do so.

9. Force Majeure

NorthPaw Dog Training Inc. shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, fire, flood, epidemic, pandemic, labour disputes, utility failures, acts of government, road closures, public emergencies, civil unrest, or power or internet outages.

In the event of a force majeure occurrence, we may suspend, reschedule, or modify services without liability, except as may be required by law or expressly stated otherwise in writing.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update or revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices. The revised Terms will be effective when posted or otherwise communicated to you, unless a later effective date is stated.

Your continued use of our services after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using our services.

11. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to them, our services, or your use of our services shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Subject to any mandatory legal rights or consumer protection provisions that apply, you agree that the courts located in Montreal, Quebec shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the services.

13. Severability Clause

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court or other competent authority, that provision shall be severed or limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

The failure of NorthPaw Dog Training Inc. to enforce any right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

General Notice: These Terms are intended to be used as a comprehensive service agreement for dog-training services in Canada. They should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel to ensure alignment with your specific operations, insurance coverage, consumer obligations, and any additional provincial or municipal requirements that may apply.
